Warm Up: The Weight
Scale: A minor scale, A major/minor/half dim arpeggio
Technique: Walking Bass Lines (descending)
Repertoire: Autumn Leaves A section
This week we reviewed The Weight and tuned up our time and the fills. We reviewed the A minor scale and learned the A major 7, minor 7 and dominant 7, arpeggios (like a scale, but skipping certain notes to outline a chord). We also applied the walking bass lines that we learned last week to work on the A section of Autumn leaves.
Assignment for next week
Comfortably play the A major and minor arpeggios in half notes.
Comfortably play The Weight at tempo with all fills
Comfortably play the A section of Autumn Leaves with all walking basslines
How to Practice this at home
Practice the A major and minor arpeggios 3-5x each with all correct notes
Practice the walking bassline for each individual chord 5x
Practice the A section of Autumn Leaves by adding chord changes one at a time.
