Paragraph summary of what was covered in class

The main focus of this week was getting Old Joe Clark into its final arrangement. Even at this point in the semester, it’s important to slowly build everything up each practice session. The more musical material that you put together, the more important it is to make sure that each piece and each technique is solid and secure. Just because we have the whole piece in its final arrangement doesn’t mean that you stop practicing the trouble spots.


Assignment for next week

Comfortably play all of Old Joe Clark in its final arrangement.


How to Practice this at home 

Old Joe Clark: Practice each phrase in hoedown rhythm with double stops 5-7 times (be critical with yourself, if there’s a phrase that isn’t up to par with the rest, repeat that phrase a few more times each day). Play the full melody of Old Joe Clark 3-5 times. End your practice with playing through Old Joe Clark with the repeat once or twice.
