Viola Intermediate: Week #2
List of Goals for the week:
Scale: 2 octave C Major scale
Technique: Note Reading Review
Repertoire: To the Greenwood full first phrase notes
Paragraph summary of what was covered in class
This week we put both octaves of the C Major scale together. Be careful to use high second fingers on C and G strings and low second fingers on D and A strings and be mentally prepared for when the switch happens. We also reviewed note reading and added the notes for the rest of the first phrase of To the Greenwood.
Assignment for next week
Comfortable play the two octave C Major scale with two bows per note and rests
Comfortably (and slowly) play through the notes of the full first phrase of To the Greenwood.
How to Practice this at home
C Scale: Practice each octave individually twice, then play the whole scale 3 times with all the right notes, clear tone and good intonation.
To the Greenwood: Go through the music away from your instrument, saying the notes out loud 5-10 times. Circle open strings and mark note names and fingers accordingly. Play each half of the phrase 7-10 times. Play through the notes of the first phrase 3-5 times.
