Whether you took piano lessons as a kid, play another instrument, or have never touched a keyboard, Keyboard Lab is a chance to get acquainted (or reacquainted!) with the keys.
This hands-on, 90-minute workshop introduces the keyboard as a tool for exploring and understanding music. We'll learn our way around the keys, investigate how notes and intervals relate to one another, build major and minor chords, and experiment with simple melodies and chord progressions.
Rather than focusing on traditional piano instruction, we'll use the keyboard to make musical concepts more visible and approachable. It's a great introduction to ideas we'll explore further in our Music Theory Labs, but no previous piano experience or music-reading skills are necessary.
With just six students and a keyboard for everyone, there's plenty of room to experiment, ask questions, and learn at your own pace.
