Music Education for Everyone
Founded in 2012, Bantam Studios is a program that provides lessons and performance opportunities for adult beginner and amateur students. Home of "booze lessons", the school provides players classes in violin, cello, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, electric bass and ensembles at any skill level, with more instruments and programs currently being developed.
Students learn a piece over the course of eight weeks, at the end of which culminates in a momentous student recital, usually held in a spacious bar/concert venue around downtown Brooklyn. The energy and attendance rivals that of a rock show - several hundred people attend, giving each group roaring cheers and applause for bravely getting on stage and taking a stab at the exhilarating but terrifying experience of live performance. Enrollment and new courses continue to grow, and Bantam to date has taught over 2,200 students.
